Women in STEM Panel: How We Provide Support, Encouragement, and Membership to Help Achieve a Common Goal

Tuesday, May 19 | 3:15 - 4:45 PM

Session Speakers:

Lead Presenter: Laura Thorne
Co-Presenter: Gabriella Balsam

Description: Women comprise more than 50% of the graduating classes in environmental degree fields, yet, the further up the career ladder you go, the fewer women there are. As environmental practitioners, our work is important and meaningful and as women, we are passionate about the work that we do. TBAEP started a Women in STEM annual workshop that has sold out for 4 years running. This session consists of 3 parts:

  1. A presentation on the origin of the TBAEP Women in STEM group and how you can start your own
  2. A panel of women leading the environmental professions with Q&A
  3. A mini meet and greet

This session will be followed by a networking mixer for women EP's - registration at the front desk on the first day of the conference.

Women in STEM Mixer: After you’ve attended the Women in STEM session, please join us at our networking get together. To follow-up on the session’s Q&A panel and meet and greet with women environmental leaders, get to know fellow women in the field in a more relaxed setting at our mixer. We hope to provide a casual space to find support and share advice within the Women in STEM community and TBAEP Women in STEM committee founders.
