About

The National Association of Environmental Professionals (NAEP) is a voluntary association headed by a Board of Directors. The Board is composed of 18 at-large elected members from the NAEP membership, four ex-officio members, and one chapter representative for each 150 NAEP members in the 18 Affiliated Chapters. All serve without compensation. Each year in the fall, six at-large Board Members are elected to serve a three-year term of office. At-large Board Members are expected to attend all of the quarterly board meetings and the annual conference.

The Board establishes policy and the association management company, SBI, assists the Board in implementing NAEP programs and practices. The NAEP Board oversees the work of all contracted entities for the administration of NAEP, the annual conference, educational activities, and publications.

The NAEP Board of Directors currently meets four times each year at various locations around the country. In-person board participation is desirable; however, attendance by conference call is allowed. The meetings are normally held on a Saturday and last for 6-8 hours. Elected at-large board members are installed at the annual conference and serve a period of three years, which terminates at the annual conference held in the third year of service. Board members attend their first Board Meeting at the annual conference in the year in which they are installed. The Board meets again at various locations around the country approximately three, six, and nine months after the annual conference. As a voluntary association, there is no reimbursement for travel expenses or the other costs associated with being on the Board of Directors.
